Yesterday, I posted a pic of my “meatball blanket” 😁 (I’m still laughing - thank you, Boyfriend, for such a catchy name!) and mentioned that there were quite a few hiccups in trying to complete this project. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had this Bernat Blanket yarn in Tartan Twist sitting in my stash for quite some time. When I finally got around to making this blanket, I realized I wouldn’t have enough, and they already discontinued this color! 😭 I racked my brain trying to come up with ways to make it work. I thought adding the cream colored stripes would help stretch it a little more, but I was still short. Off to Jo-Ann and Michael’s I went, all to be disappointed cuz I couldn’t find a color that matched or went well with this color scheme. A little discouraged, I went home and started digging through my yarn stash just to see if I happened to have anything that could work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💡 By some creative divine intervention, an idea came to me! Why not use three strands of medium weight yarn to make the rough equivalent of super bulky weight? I already had the exact colors, too! Granted the texture ended up being different, but the match was as good as it gets without being the actual thing! Thankfully, I only had about 2.5 rows left so it’s not as noticeable from afar. So so glad I didn’t abandon this project and stuck it out ‘til the end! 🤗 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was a good reminder for me: things might not always work out according to plan, but if you keep going, the end result will be just as great, if not better!
