IN REGARDS TO YOUR 'MEANING OF KOU' POST: i think it might be the creators' doing to incorporate as many red themes as they can with koujaku (like what they did with aoba and p much all the boys bc come on all of their designs match their names. kind of) OR what if he's slapping red in everything he's associated with to remind himself of what he did? bc you know, red is also the color of blood. and he shed a lot of it. or maybe he's just unconsciously doing it? it's just a theory /shrug
It is definitely true that all the boys are color coded (like a sentai team) but the fact that none of the other boyfriends have a strong color association with their teams/names leads me to think that Koujaku's red-red-red probably isn't a creator choice in terms of that color identification.
HOWEVER, I can definitely see it as a form of Koujaku's self-punishment since damn the boy is all about that shit. Canon especially shows us how even if Koujaku hides his tattoos, he doesn't let himself escape from the horrors of what he's done. It's still a burden that he carries in everything he does. So he certainly could be painting everything around him "red" just to remind himself of how blood-stained his own hands are.
Another bit of headcanon I've heard as well is that the name Koujaku isn't his given name but rather a nickname given by his mother, so he slaps "red" over everything as a way of remembering her and, yet again, perpetually burdening himself with the sins of his past...
Since Koujaku is just that kind of guy.
