Every family has em..Weather its how your family celebrates a holiday, wedding ceremonies, recipes, food, names, or other yearly special occasions. Traditions are what strengthens a family and binds them together.
The traditions in our family have left me with amazing memories and knowledge. I know when I have a family of my own (in a long long time). I will continue to teach and live by these traditions.
Of course my #1 tradition has to do with FOOD. What do you expect though? We're Italian!
So every year......since my grandmas mothers nannas nanna (basically for a really long time) make homemade Crispelli before Christmas! All the women in our family would get together to make huge pounds of homemade dough...Then when the dough was ready, we would braid it and fry it up! My grandma would send it to everyone who was anyone and we would enjoy it on Christmas Day. On New Year's Day we would enjoy another version of Italian fried dough called Zeepole. These were fried round balls filled with anchovies! (sounds gross right?)

1) A light deep fried dough ball that can also be savory and filled with anchovies. In parts of Calabria, the anchovy is consumed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
