(Hero) gasped, coughing up a mixture of blood and water. They blinked a few times, their blurry, watery vision becoming clear. They could see the blue sky with it's annoyingly fluffy white clouds. In the corner of their eyes, they could see the dark green and brown pine trees.
They licked their lips, the metallic taste of blood strong.
"Glad to see you're awake."
(Hero)'s eyes widened, turning their head to the side. You waved your scarlet red gloved hand, going back to tending to a groaning (Sidekick).
"It hurts." (Sidekick) mumbled, teeth chattering as they brought the crimson red cloak closer to themselves.
"It's gonna hurt more doll if you keep on flinching." You quietly said, dipping the white rag into the rubbing alcohol and dabbing it on the bloody scrape on their cheek.
(Hero) slowly sat up, wiping their bloody hands with their tattered cape.
"What are you doing?" They asked, narrowing their eyes.
"Making sure y'all don't die, love." You answered, setting down the rag on top of the small portable table. "I'd hate to see you two perish."
"(Hero), just be grateful they saved us from the river and didn't kill us when they had the chance to." (Sidekick) muttered, leaning against the base of the pine tree and sighing.
"Why should I be grateful to some-"
"Choose your next words carefully (Hero). Don't make me regret my decision." You stated, standing up and walking over to them.
You sat next to them, rummaging around your backpack and taking out a small bottle of a glowing, green liquid. You opened it, putting the cork away.
(Hero) narrowed their eyes, a glare in their eyes.
"How do I know it's not poison?" They reluctantly asked, watching the bubbles as they sat against a tree.
"(Hero), it's just a weird drink that heals a lot of you." (Sidekick) said, picking at the dead bits of brown grass.
"And besides, even if I wanted to kill you, I would've just snapped your neck, doll. But why would I when I still have the benefit of hearing your pretty little voice." You mused, smirking and shuffling closer to them. "Now drink it."
"Fine, I'll do it." (Hero) said, grabbing the bottle and taking a sip.
It tasted of green apples, but in the form of fizzy soda.
"Finish the bottle and close your eyes. Sleep will hit you soon if you don't." You instructed, grabbing the rubbing alcohol and damp rag.
It was gonna be a long day for (Hero).
