Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Letโs spread the self-love ๐
This is so sweet, thank you my friend! I'm criminally late in participating, but I adore a self-love daisy chain and want to participate <3
I am not that prolific of a writer if I go back to the start of my AO3 posting, but here's a few that I've been very proud of over the years:
+++
a curse for every mile crossed (The Pitt, Trinity/Samira)
Werewolf!Trinity my beloved! A blatant excuse to write a 40K love letter to my favorite character on the show, with the bonus of getting the best artist in town as my collaborator and two incredibly talented friends as betas. Externalizing Trinity's backstory (something terrible happened to her and now she's Changed; when she senses a threat she bares her gleaming teeth and goes for the throat; she wants so badly to Protect and to Save all those she deems Good) was challenging but ultimately so incredibly rewarding. My favorite piece I've written in years.
+++
Atom Bomb Baby (The Pitt, Trinity/Abby/Frank)
My OTHER favorite thing I've written! The very definition of a fic so indulgent it has an audience of one (1), and that audience is ME!! Trinity chucks a lit stick of dynamite at the Langdon marriage without even trying, and no one survives the blast. "Man she's anything but calm / a regular pint-sized atom bomb"

this my blood, this my bone (Critical Role, Cassandra + Percy)
Critical Role lost a lot of its shine for me during the second season, tbh, but I still love how this little ficlet turned out. I loved the estranged de Rolo siblings, I loved Percy's guilt-wracked voice, I loved Cassandra's place in the narrative, etc. And honestly the prose turned out really, really well.

Harbor (The Adventure Zone, Lucretia/Lup/Barry)
Ohhhh Lucretia, my darling girl, one of my Top Three Characters of All Time. This is a silly one to rec, honestly, cause it's Part 2 of a series, but ah well. This fic brings back some very lovely, nostalgic memories; I was so in love with the fandom and my friends and the creative expression during this time, and it's fun to revisit. From a technical standpoint I reallllly liked dropping the hints of Bad Things To Come throughout, while still keeping the romance turned up to 11.

Hear That Thunder Roll (Fallout 4, Deacon/MacCready/Sole Survivor)
This wasn't my first fic on AO3, but pretty close, and it's the scenario I wanted to badly to read that I was forced to open a word doc, lol. There weren't a lot of polyfics in the fandom yet, and I had a ~very specific vibe~ that I was looking for and couldn't find. The relationship and the OC ended up being so very dear to me, but more than anything it helped me fall in love with writing again, so I'll always treasure it, I think.
