"I would not wish any companion in the world but you."
– The Tempest (Ferdinand to Miranda)
Named after a Shakespeareans play, Mira refuses to use her full name. Believing that it makes her a walking proof of her families obnoxious stuck upness and classism.
Her name serves as a constant reminder of what her family had expected her to be! Perfect, before she was even born.
A Designer Baby, that grew up sheltered, with her life planned out and health complications taken care of.
Only for her to become an alcoholic, run away, and start a life in a hellhole of a city, in which she could barely afford a third of her necessary doctors visits.
Being too out of touch for most people, she finds it hard to form proper connections, and end's up just as reserved and self critical as when she was with her picture perfect family.
Her disconnected from reality view of the "lower class" and the "less fortunate" creates an even bigger gap between what she believes and her life. As she doesn't recognize her own lifestyle, change into a "lower middle class" individual.
Because of the same disconnected "distant" from herself image of "the people she used to feel bad for", she doesn't recognize her alcoholism as an addiction, and doesn't consider rehabilitation to be necessary.
Her upbringing leads her to a dangerously unhealthy belief that "everything can just be fixed, because there is systems created for that" as she doesn't see the gray areas of struggle. That makes her naively positive in her desire to help people, while her alcoholism becomes an ironic representation of the gray area she cannot yet see.
Her desperation for connection, closeness, and protection from a world that rejects her and man who want to use her makes her turn a blind eye to many red flags. As she eventually gets in a relationship with the red flag man himself!
Than love wins or some shit. Idk lol.
They are both horrid to each other in their own ways, but begin to see that not everything can work the way they think it can.... but it can still work.
She is those little cute rabbits that are bread for tiny competitions, or to be sold to some rich people that can spoil them rotten as long as they look all good and fancy. In a perfectly comfortable cage, with a life reduced to "being shown off" to family and friends. So fragile and used to their tiny perfectly curated lives, that they have barely any odds to survive the real world.
And BB is a big, aggressive street dog. Living a life full of freedom, hardship and survival of the fittest. Sadly, his life lacks gentleness, softness and care.
Blah blah they fall in love. CAN I MAKE IT ANYY MORE OBVIOUS??
it is certified that occasionally i am a little bit of a bitch. and i have valid reasons to be so.
for example, if pointing out that junk journals should be made of actual junk and useless things found in one's home makes me a bitch, so be it.
buying 300 dollars' worth of supplies to decorate a journal is peak CONSUMERISM, and none can change my mind.
i have been making "journals", "scrapbooks", and "art books"—everything trending under the sun—since i was, like, 7, all for fun with whatever i had in my home. the whole point of any kind of journaling is to make do with your existing resources. hobbies are not meant to dent your purse and make holes in your pockets.
as a kid i had the tendency to decorate my stuff with puffy stickers, glitter pens, newspaper cuttings, magazine glossy papers, and every time i wanted something trendy from stationery shops because they were the new shiny thing my friends had, my mom would remind me that: 'you are creating things to express your interests in certain topic and not making a showpiece for others to be impressed about.'
journaling is first an expression of the personal and then a peephole exhibition to the public. you create for yourself and then show it to the world to show your joy not create for random people first and yourself later. journaling trends, stationery hauls and journal supply unboxing videos has sent me into a state of alarm.
buying 300 dollar washi tapes, 100 dollars' worth of printed colourful papers, another 50 dollar stamps, using golden brass scissors, visiting super expensive restaurants to collect their napkins and bills, and layering on another 250 dollar journal is simply falling into a consumerist trap. you cannot take your disposable income for granted! the economy is crashing, and copying art influencers will put you in debt.
you don't have to journal every day, either! our ordinary lives don't need daily microscopic dissection and diagnosis written and covered in pretty stickers and glitter. yes, everyday life needs to be appreciated, the never-ending thought trails need to be put together, and we need to be in connection with our emotions, and journaling is a meditative method to achieve it all.
but we should remember this: that mediation should be free of materialistic chokehold.
also, i have vented about it before as well, but every day social media gives me new reason to get angry

I was born with a stack of unwritten books inside my ribcage and and all my problems stem from not having coughed enough of them up onto the page to make room for my breath yet
