Crafters of Tumblr! I call upon anyone and everyone who makes/designs and/or uses patterns. Especially those that *^*sell*^* those patterns.
I purchased a pattern from a designer for a cross stitch to make a gift for someone.
I bought the floss in specified colors and had a huge “Ok, trust the process” moment.
The subject in the design is supposed to be a piece of toast. “Mana Toast,” to be specific. Ok, the blues make sense then. The browns make sense. The orange and yellow?
Trust the process.
Ummm… I’m getting more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vibes than Dungeon Crawler Carl…

It looks like pizza to me. The angular slice and the brown spots read sausage pizza. The recipient likes the piece but I was going to make one for myself and I can’t get over the colors.
I have another project that has a cross stitch piece of toast (am I toast obsessed?) and I just purchased those colors today. The two on the left are from the original pattern. I picked the ones in the middle and the right two are from the Gudetama pattern that is inspiring the color change. If I do it right those will look way more toasty to me…
Here’s where I have a question for you:
If someone purchases your pattern that you produced, is it ok for the buyer to manipulate the coloration for personal use/display with no intent to sell?
Change the colors all you want, just don’t claim it as -your- pattern to sell it

I’d personally be ok with it as long as they didn’t claim it’s a whole new thing they imagined up themselves. I’ve created a couple cross stitch patterns that I’ve posted for free on FB and I couldn’t care less if they’re manipulated.
But anyway. I’m gonna make the toast my way. It’s gonna be on the wall somewhere in my house where maybe three people in my life that would ever see it would get the reference.
