#cpu kerfuffle

He became a bit of a meme in the Discord, but he gained even more notoriety after the NCCT’s.

For context on THAT, if you’re not already aware, I hosted a stream series for a while called CPU Kerfuffle, which was a series of Smash Tourneys with Level 9 CPUs, with each character given their own names/backstories that myself and a lot of others in the server had grown attached to.

During my hiatus, I had been checking out other fighting game cutscenes like Injustice 2, Blazblue and MK and loved seeing the unique dialogues between characters. As a fun practice for dialogue and character writing, I started the first ever Non-Canon Curiosity Tournament (or NCCT for short) where I randomly set up a bracket of characters and came up with pre-match dialogue and victory quotes for whoever won.

The first NCCT was just that. Me generating quotes. But then the second NCCT came around, and I had an idea. Within the story of CPUK, the NCCT’s took place in the dreams of the contestants. However I wanted to take things one step further. Within the dreams there was a ceramic Nelson. If any of the characters picked up the Nelson….

Then the members of the Discord could directly communicate with the characters of CPUK. This eventually led to what I can honestly say is some of the most interesting writing I’ve ever had the pleasure of putting out there.

It’s been archived by members of the Discord with frankly immaculate formatting, and I think the Discord has actually been doing live reading nights over these last few months! (I plan to wait until it’s all said and done before I listen to it since apparently it’s going to be edited down)

There are a total of 5 NCCT tournaments. I’ve been thinking about if I want to do another one, with plenty of reasons in my mind for it and against it. But regardless, it’s something that I’m incredibly glad happened the way that it did.

i also did the art vs artist thing this year because i had a lot of bigger pieces clumped up in a couple months, but i didn't want a post my Real Ass Face so here's a drawover of me getting 2nd in buckshot roulette at pax west. (congrats as well to @friendlyfrankenstein for making the board and for introducing me to my long lost sister Pinky⭐)

So, I went to Dashcon 2! I was there with @logicalabsurdity (though she isn't in any of my pictures.) I went in extremely recognizeable and not at all niche closet cosplay as Prism from CPU Kerfuffle, with guest appearance from My Grunk (marketable plushie edition) and I've thus far had a blast playing Where's Waldo with my fun hat in other people's pictures and videos.

The place I most consistently appear is at the Homestuck photoshoot, which is also where I took approximately 98% of my pictures. As a fun consequence of where I stood, most of those pictures are haunted by the Looming Spectre. Observe:
