admin here, this post is triggering af, especially if you are #nativeamerican. im mixed with NA and my family had a traditional naming ceremony years ago, my NA name is blossoming butterfly. i am a member of the #montaukett tribe in long island & the #cherokee tribe in n carolina. so yes this image made me emotional because i cant stand to see my ancestors/elders disrespected. this happened today at an #IndigenousPeoplesMarch. these disrespectful little children are students at #CovingtonCatholic in KY and they took it upon themselves to put on #MAGA hats, form a mob and harass this native american protestor who was chanting "hear me roar", which coincidentally is a song about peace. this little shit ass kid thought he could intimidate him and make him stop but he stood his ground. i wanna hold him so tight to not only thank him, but to show him my support. his name is nathan phillips and he is a vietnam war vet as well and look at how he's treated! after the unseasoned mob left him alone, he cried, not understanding why they would do this to him. and i did too. to the parents, faculty & staff of the #covingtoncatholiccolonels, you should be ashamed of yourselves. this video is a representation of each and every one of you and your community as a whole. racism, disrespect & hatred is taught, look at what you're passing down to your kids! look at what "your president" is allowing. this behavior & those musty red hats did not belong here! i'm so fucking heated but i'm gonna end with this. racial tensions in this country are boiling & soon we will all get burned. i can see it. a lot of us are scared of it. teach your kids some respect before they pull this stunt on someone who isn't as peaceful. an ig post is just the beginning. we can do more & we will! the school's phone number is 859-491-2247. you can also email the principal, bob rowe at [email protected] this is not what america is about. this is stolen land. remember that! - @donnisbutterfly (thanks to @native_things) for this video https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs1KH9vF4eo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=o1fa589wtizc

Untitled Acrylic on canvas I am struggling to title this so for now it is what it is. Its not going to be everyones cup of tea, but I cant really hide my contempt for this place. I paint a lot of things from the Cincinnati area, its my home. And not just physically. I was born here, one of my kids was born here, and I cant really put into words what this city means to me. Thats why I cant shake my disgust with Covington Catholic and their little shithead mascot. They are a symptom of a much larger problem in this region and country at large, a disease that infects the hearts of my fellow Americans. Call it, hatred, ignorance, fear, or bigotry. This "school" thought it would be a good idea to rile up a bunch of impressionable teens, stick them in that racist shit rag of a hat, and let them loose on the capital. That school has done racist and bigoted things before, caught on camera. Who knows what sort of awful things they are "teaching" these kids. Here I see two major problems, bigotry disguised as faith, and the Catholic churchs willingness to engage in this post fact diseased environment (why we let an institution that systematically hides child molesters in its ranks teach kids is beyond me), and bigotry masquerading as politics. These kids should be embarrassed, but their parents and "teachers" should be ashamed. Unfortunately, they wont be, they will hide behind ignorance, intolerance, and corrupt institutions. Not to mention crooked lawyers sending threats to people expressing disgust, like me.
