1969, November 11 to 14 Interesting international symposium during the “New Technics” exposition in Munich – Germany. Swiss oceanographer Dr Jacques Piccard gave a presentation on the Gulf Stream Project PX-15, which involved the six man crew of the pioneering submersible “Ben Franklin” on their 30-day mission drifting 2400 kilometers from Florida to Maine in order to sample and measure various aspects of the huge underwater Atlantic Ocean current dubbed Gulf Stream at depths between 200 and 600 meter. During the same symposium, ex-NASA astronaut & aquanaut Scott Carpenter gave a presentation on the subject “Life and work in the sea: problems and progress” for the US Navy Deep Submergence System Project Office.
