Can't find the post anymore but I saw smth on here about how silverwoods are an allegory for the long term effects of trauma, but I want to add that I think they are more generally an allegory for chronic conditions, both physical and mental. The silverwood hosts we know of are Qifrey, Coustas and Ininia. Qifrey and Coustas are both physically disabled (missing an eye & paralysed) while also having pretty severe mental trauma to the point that it's a chronic mental health issue. We don't know as much about Ininia, but we know the tree only shows where there is a deficit of some kind, implying her hands are damaged. The way they are shaped makes me think she might have one of those conditions where your hand bends abnormally towards the wrist (I think because of the tendons? I've spent 20 minutes trying to get the name of what I'm thinking of but I can't find it). We also don't have a great understanding of her deeper psyche, but what we have seen hints at some deep rooted issues. This would make all 3 of the silverwood hosts both physically and mentally chronically ill.
