I managed to send out some emails to good students from last term to ask if they are interested in working for me this term. Now to hope that I get enough replies early enough that I’ll be able to have the graders all hired before the semester starts.
I’ve started an online course to learn the new course management software that the school is switching to this term (one more thing to deal with in my course prep this time around), and need to focus to actually work with it instead of just skimming documentation. It looks like it has a lot of good features, but trying to figure out how they actually want us to organize our stuff is a pain. The old system annoyed me enough that I just kept my gradebook and assignment submissions here, and posted all my files elsewhere. I suspect this may be much the same, but I’m willing to give it a chance.

Fall course prep: Writing with Digital Technologies
I've been slowly pulling together some pieces for my new class syllabus and site for the Fall: Writing with Digital Technologies (WRIT 4662w). I'm planning on guiding students through Web technologies and markup languages, building semantically rich sites. We'll cover the basics; plus, we'll cover metadata and microdata strategies. This, I hope, will provide scaffolding for us, building into working with DITA and topic models as a final project.
