Hi all,

The community/arts centre that I volunteer at is currently looking to raise funds to buy the building that we operate out of, and it would feel wrong if I didn't share it here.

The North East of England, especially County Durham, is the most deprived area of the country when it comes to culture and arts funding, and this centre is doing its best to change that with art exhibitions, film screenings, music gigs, theatre performances, art clubs, workshops and even open mic karaoke nights once a month. They are a safe space for all marginalized groups with a zero hate policy. They are also extremely involved with preserving the local heritage, which is very important for a northern working class mining town whose history is usually not spoken about. All in all, the impact that this centre has had on the community is not to be understated.
