a thing that really pisses me off is how school counselors need your parents permission to help you, or even like talk to you about something you might be going through.
Like, sometimes it IS the parents that the child is having problems with, or maybe its something they dont want their parents to know about.
Not all parents (and in my opinion, most) allow their child to just go and actually talk to someone about their problems without making a huge ass deal about it and telling them to just deal with it themselves like a normal person, or worse, joking about something that is clearly important to their child.
And i know that the counselors also can't just have a 'session' with a student without parental consent, but no one is stopping them from just casually talking to a student. They're always going on about how we should consider them a 'friend' well, i certainly don't need my parents to allow me to talk to a friend, do i?
If a child really needs some help, if they're clearly asking the councelor for help, and they ask them to come back later with their parents phone number and consent, i don't think thats really going to end up helping any students
