      she thought she’d been stranded in worse places when she first landed on jakku. the five points system and its maze of asteroids, for one, was bad enough, turning short-haul trips into weeks aboard a freighter. on an actual freighter, for another, cleaning old grease out of engine parts she didn’t understand. but jakku and its sand and its heat had slowly and surely eased its way up through the list until it sat at the top, shining and awful.
      there was work, at least. there always seemed to be people coming and going. there were options for when she could afford them, but scandocs didn’t sell out here for what they did in other systems and she hadn’t yet been able to convince someone to take her off world in exchange for ship credentials. soon, though. she was getting somewhere.
      niima outpost was always busy and there always seemed to be someone out for halfway decent work. she’d found a spot she could set herself up as inconspicuously as possible and for a handful of credits the right people would point prospective clients her direction. it wasn’t the best set up, but it beat digging through the graveyards for scrap to trade. scarf up, tucked away out of the sun, a warm bottle of old water—it could definitely be worse, but not by much.

this one is somehow both really simple and really difficult to answer? the short answer is just: no. no pda, not even a little bit. but that’s mostly just because jyn isn’t good at affection, she doesn’t get the subtle touches or the tender quietness that exists in relationships. she’s very self-contained and stand-offish and will more than gladly reach for anger long before she reaches for affection.Â
