The transition of her skull plates a few days after getting her shunt. The fluid is draining but her head is also taking a different shape because of how she is lying on her stomach/back/side all day. Luckily, her doctor says that a transformation like this does not cause pain, and will continue to change as the fluid continues to drain.
Azana was also diagnosed with a Cortical Visual Impairment, where she can see, but in spots (like trying to look through swiss cheese). Her right eye is completely blind, and smaller than the left eye. It also has a cyst behind it, and was said to be benign (non-cancerous). Dr. Freedman, her eye doctor, says that it will not grow because it was not attached to the retina, or the brain, in order to continue development. As the eye socket grows, the eye will not, but the left eye will. Later on down the line, as the face continues to grow around her eye, and if the cyst gets bigger, we may need to discuss removal, but not at this time.
The only thing about the left eye, is it will have the limited vision, so we need to start stimulating her eye to strengthen what she can use.
