        He always felt so tired, at least he had gotten used to the painful ache in his chest; it barely bothered him anymore. He was slowly becoming accustomed to merely drifting and not trying, it was much easier than attempting to force himself to live when he knew it wasn't worth it in the end. No amount of happiness could save him once Aoba and Sly were gone; this he assumed was a written in stone fact.

        It was tempting at times to do what his Big Brother had done. Just, 'shut down'; of course Ren had did it to protect people and offer them a chance at happiness without him... Beta would do it for selfish reasons, he wasn't as strong as he thought he was and now he was barely surviving under the weight of everything. 

        He was hoping... Maybe a reminder of why he even bothered trying, a reminder of the promise he had made, might help. Perhaps he could at least gather the strength to try for the sake of the others... He had promised Aoba he'd bring him happiness in his final years.... Beta had also promised Ren he'd be a good pup and support everyone now that big brother was gone... He was failing on both those fronts.

        Such a reminder was why he was here, slowly creeping into the room where Ren lay 'sleeping'. He couldn't find any of the rest of the family; he had tried but they were either not in the house or didn't want to be bothered by anyone else. He didn't want to be alone, not with the weight of these emotions threatening to once more overwhelm him. He wasn't going to do anything, he just needed to be close to somebody for awhile.
