The memo comes after the overcrowding of Southern California’s beaches over the past weekend, including Newport Beach, which attracted some 90,000 beachgoers. While Newport Beach's City Council on Tuesday voted to keep its beaches open, Newsom chastised beachgoers and warned that defying the state's stay at home order could delay its reopening. "This virus doesn't take the weekends off. This virus doesn't go home. In East Asia, Taiwan continued to see rising cases as the Reproduction Rate (Rt) remained above 1. Japan sees a dramatic drop in cases, not because there are less COVID cases seen, but because in the way the reporting is done. The doctors are not mandated to fill up each and every report for all cases of COVID-19 any longer in the country. With the BA.5 and BA.4 and its sub variants dominating the globe in time for the winter season, some of the countries are notably seeing changing landscapes with many under testing, and simply living with the virus. The Philippines averaged 2014 daily cases with a Rt of 1.16 (+/- 0.05), meaning that we are at a plateau and should expect to see a tad higher cases this week.
