Are we absolutely sure that's the only reason? It's not like restrictions and case numbers have been shown to have a correlation.

When it comes to wearing masks I hate the way that people have twisted what wearing a mask means. Every time mask policies are lessened in my state I still keep mine on at all times still because of what could happen if I get COVID.
Personally, I don’t give a flying fuck if I get COVID. If it was an option, I would lick a New York park bench everyday if it means I can go back to my pre-COVID life. I’m vaccinated and boosted, not in the risk group, and mostly likely going to survive BUT that doesn’t change the fact that my sister and best friend have pretty bad asthma, my parents/grandparents are old, and my mom’s immune system is TERRIBLE. If I ever got corona and gave it to them I don’t know if I could ever live myself. So if I were not wear a mask, I would put some of the most important people to my live in danger for WHAT? Because it makes me annoyed, because I don’t feel like it.
I do think that masks are annoying. I hate having to fish around my pockets to make sure I didn’t lose any of them, wearing them all the time, and practically everything else that wearing a mask involves but that doesn’t mean you need to stop wearing them.
It’s not political, it’s basic human decency.
