#corn field

This morning’s pics were taken two hours after sunrise.

This is how it looks facing east from the edge of the soybean field. The corn field here seems to be more stressed than other nearby fields. The next shot will show what the west 150 feet of the field looks like from where I was standing.

The corn plants on the west end of the field all look like they are barely hanging on. I don’t know why there is such a difference.

I got these two ☝️off my Big Boy tomato plant out by the shed. They don’t look very big for the Big Boy variety. I bet they are going to taste good in my lunch salad. 😋

Look how high the corn field is now.

My dentist appointment went well, no big deal. Just aim to relax for the rest of the day.

So here I am, hosing out the bath and filling it. I thought would check on what the corn field is doing as long as I was out here.

I carefully stepped between the plants and this is how far they are. There are little ears starting to form now.

Look what I found in my cherry tomato plant, a couple of red ones. I went right into the house and rinsed one off and it tasted great. One problem was the skin was like trying to chew up shoe leather. 😠

Hope they aren’t all like that.

That red equipment in the center is a tiller. The yellow field area directly behind it is the stubble from a wheat crop that was harvested about 10 days ago. The tall green after that is another field full of corn. You can tell from here that it is very tall.

What do you guys think of the corn now? The plants are growing their tassels and are a bit taller. The tassels are what produces the pollen so the plants can form ears or corn. 🌽

That old saying might pertain to home grown sweet corn in your garden but not to commercially grown field corn. The rows behind me are almost shoulder high.
