Too much work. Not enough sleep. Tired eyes drag over yellowed pages. Even so, the last place Elijah wants to be is home. 

The library is always empty at this time of night. Maybe that’s why he likes it. Endless rows of old books to dip his nose in– So much so he’s acquired an immense stack on the lonely table he frequents. Loose ginger hair collapses over his forehead, sunken eyes lost in a book. In truth, he’s half about to nod off.

That is, until a slender hand rests on top of his third book stack. He hasn’t touched those ones yet. Elijah scrambles, limbs haphazardly aiming to grapple the collection. Panicky green eyes dart up, pleading at the figure standing tall above him. Though, they twitch slightly when he’s met with his own reflection through dark shades. This must be the new librarian. Elijah squints his eyes looking for some type of name tag.
