“You would sound so good begging for it.”

Copia shudders at the words whispered so tenderly as though the speaker's lips brushed his ear. Sweat beads on his forehead, gliding down pink, flushed flesh. 

I know this post and it’s consequences will probably end up pissing me off, but I’d really like to have a serious conversation about “problematic ships.” Like, an adult conversation. 

I know we can do it.

Precondition

For me, most of this opinion doesn’t involve the Copiiia/Copiia/Cop1a ships because I think the incest factor isn’t the main thing with that ship. The Papa x Papa ship involves Copia on 99.99% of the time for the simple reason that he was introduced as not being part of the bloodline, and six (6) years passed before he was officially and undoubtedly confirmed as part of it (I have my opinions about this change, too). It seems totally reasonable to me that some people just chose to stick to that first statement and create the pairings they liked with him through all this time.

I have never personally seen a Terzo x Secondo fic, or a Primo x Secondo and so on. Most Copiiia/Cpiia/Cop1a authors are simply not interested in creating an incest story.

That said, since people associated Copia x other Papas with pure incest from the beginning, I think we can at least gain something interesting from all this discourse.

/Precondition

Many “nasty” stories (books, fanfics, movies, songs… whatever) provide an opportunity to discuss “taboo” issues. Some can serve as case studies for reflecting on human behavior in specific contexts. I know fanfictions are mostly meant to entertain, to fantasize, even to get horny or just to imagine ourselves in a romance with our favorite characters, but this would be underestimating the work of fanfic writers. Some fanfictions are deep, offering interesting analyses and portraits of human behavior, and some may choose unusual topics to explore very dark and complex (also frivolous, why not) aspects of human nature.

If an author decides to choose a “problematic” topic to express their creativity, it is none of your business.

Even if a relationship is considered morally unacceptable, authors still have the right to write about it, and interested readers have the right to read it. Otherwise, no author should be allowed to write about murder, which I think is the most morally unacceptable act one can commit.

A relationship can be nasty even if it is between two complete strangers. It can be abusive. It can be violent. It can involve rape (a topic I personally despise with every fiber of my being, but STILL, I read about it and sometimes even write about it). It can be dysfunctional, toxic, unbalanced, boring… people still have the right to explore it in whatever way they like. By the way, somehow if a fictional relationship is so bad but it’s between two regular people it is still accepted, but it becomes absolutely unacceptable if it involves two siblings.

I’d like to bring up some examples of famous incestuous or problematic stories:

The Dreamers, by Bernardo Bertolucci: Not sure how many of you know about this movie. I watched it when I was a little girl and never for a moment was I grossed out by the story. I was rather fascinated by the relationship between the twins and how it becomes a refuge and a way to escape reality. You can interpret that relationship in so many ways. It was strange, even poetic, but it was interesting to explore. The movie is still one of my favorites.

Lolita: Nabokov himself asked not to romanticize the story (which was inspired by a real event, btw). That book doesn’t make him a pedophile or a nasty person; it was just his imagination, a sad dynamic he felt was worth exploring and telling.

Dogtooth, by Yorgos Lanthimos: This is another example of a very particular situation where explicit incestuous situations occur (more than one, to be fair). It is one of the most interesting movies I have ever seen from a “what humans do when put into a very singular situation” perspective.

Nymphomaniac, by Lars von Trier: nothing less than an equally upsetting and poignant creation. Many people here would go absolutely crazy at the scene where the protagonist reacts to her father’s death, I’m sure of it. I’m still trying to interpret it.

No, I won’t include A song if Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, enough people have done that already.

Try discussing those works by saying, “That movie was bad because they are siblings and they can’t do those things!” Ok, legitimate, but try to imagine how you sound from the outside if that is really the ONLY critique you can make.

Witch-hunting creators who are brave enough to explore the nastiest parts of human nature doesn’t make you a good person. It makes you a person who wants the world to conform to your image, making you unable to face and analyze what you find unacceptable.

The great wedding escape 

Summary:terzo and the band get invited to a wedding to do a wedding song and cardi design to bring his pet rat when terzo tells him no:

Everyone was up early that morning. terzo was fixing his tie in the mirror when Omega walked past his door in his towel his eyes went huge as he spun around fast 

(Terzo) good morning!!! I said in a happy voice “you to papa “ he said with a little nod as he stood in the doorway with the towel wrapped around him tightly “my face is up here” Omega pointed and I smiled. Can't blame your papa for looking  i giggled as he went red 

(Omega)....I… 

Omega shook his head until his brain found.words 

(Omega)Where's Cardi this morning? I asked 

(Terzo)hopefully dressed and not playing with that pet of his 

Cardi was awake early. yes playing with his pet rat whose name was Mr Rat the rat was a dark chocolate colour fat and adorable cardi let mr rat run all up his arm as he giggled he picked him up in his hands and cupped his hands so the fat rat wouldn't escape 

(Cardi) I can't take you with me today.  T would have a fit if I did. I explained to the rat who made squeaky noises at me. I smiled as I walked to my door but backed up when it opened. Morning. “Uh morning cardi “

(Terzo)you ready?I asked, and he nodded with the rat in his arms no… I said, wagging my finger "no you aren't bringing him I said, pointing at the rat “but” no! cardi if you bring him you'll lose him and then you'll be sad and then you'll have to get another one so no “but he'll be all alone” I rolled my eyes just leave him food i said. Cardi  he won't even notice that you've gone, his eyes went to the floor sad. Don't give me that look. Look, I walked over to the rats cage opening it. See, he has lots of things in here he can play with and eat, cardi nodded. I put my hand on his shoulder we will be back soon bud ok I walked to the door. Oh, by the way, we will be leaving in 20 “ok..”

After when terzo shut his door cardi huffed he scooped the rat up who was now in  his pocket 

(Cardi)see he won't let you i said Sadly the rat looked up at me and moved his head to the side. I looked at the floor and.smiled what a great idea! 

Wedding 

Everyone arrived at the wedding all dressed smartly Terzo performed the wedding song  which they wanted circle so he sang that and he went to sit down the couple did their vows and the wedding was.going smoothy 

After party 

Cardi was happy the plan was.working he had Mr Rat in his side bag in his playing ball the rat was happy and so was.cardi he fed mr rat a sandwich and went on with the night when he put his hand into the bang and only the ball came out thats when cardi panicked 

(Cardi)oh no!

Cardi went outside looking on the floor and then he saw Terzo chatting and charming some of the bridesmaids cardi watched as he bought one of the girls hands to his lips and kissed it the two of the girls  laughed cardi rolled his eyes he walked over tapping T.on the shoulder 

(Terzo)Both of you look beautiful…um I turned to cardi, not now, I said in a whisper “its an emergency!” he said i looked.back at him, i excused myself, dragging his arm away. Listen.cardi until someone has died. Can it wait? Those girls want me, and I haven't had it for ages, ok and…. Why are you digging around in You're a bag? I asked as he pulled out the play ball for his rat, my eyes went. Wide…no cardi i shook my head DONT tell me that you bought him?

(Cardi) well…well I…yeah “why?” Well.you know his a smart boy and he gets out of his cage when.im not there and I thought if I bought him he wouldn't get lost 

(Terzo)but he is lost cardi the man looked.on.the floor,uh ok…ok let's look for him together god sake if omega finds him he will eat him you know how much he hates that thing cardi nodded 

The two of them rushed inside cardi walked ahead as terzo told him to take him to the place where he last had the rat cardi did right in the middle of the dance floor . They looked in every corner of the room. Nothing cardi looked behind the dj set, nothing under people's feet, nothing 

(Cardi)I pushed the bathroom door open, Mr Rat! I called his name as I got on to my hands and knees looking under the doors hello…. As I was calling Mr Rats name one of the bathroom doors opened.and a tall man stood there. I looked up ,uh, you haven't seen my… 

Cardi didn't even have the chance to finish his sentence before the man grabbed him and pushed him up to one of the walls 

“Were you looking at me underneath this stool?”

(Cardi)umm noo…I mean yes I was but..but not like. Not like you don't have anything to look at anyway “WHAT!” The man shouted,making me jump…. I mean. The man locked his fist. i shut my eyes, waiting for a hit “im so sorry about him” i opened them to see terzo dragging me from the man's grip 

(Terzo)I huff, can't you stay outta trouble? “Did you find him?”no I didn't. we split up i looked in the other dance hall but got stopped by the bride and groom who was thanking me for the song I smiled my eyes glanced down and thats when.i saw it the rat and that moment cardi came out the corner i made eye contact with him looking at the floor his eyes lit up I turned my attention to the bride and smiled. It was.no worries “got ya!” They both turned to see cardi on his knees. I let out a giggle. I walked to him, pulling him up. Have a good evening. I turned around, dragging cardi “HAY look we found him!”he said i shook my head. i hope you bought something with you to put him in? "

(Cardi)Yeah, his ball 

(Terzo)I shut my eyes. no something for tonight We're staying in a hotel “oh I never thought that far ahead” he said 

(Cardi)um … ohhh ill ask the bride if I can have one of the boxes for her wedding gifts "don't tell her why!” I nodded OK 

After 

It was getting late it was 1:30am in the morning they were setting up the car cardi got a big box for Mr Rat he put it in the back 

(Terzo)You actually got one?cardi nodded 

(Omega)mm. Look my lunch 

(Terzo)I rolled my eyes very funny. Meg, right, can we go to the hotel now! 

They went to the hotel cardi got ready for bed he put his pj's on and set Mr Rat into the box as he squeaked Happily cardi found some bedding for him when Cardi was satisfied that he was comfortable  he then.got into his own bed hoping that Mr Rat was still in the box in the.morning  he fell asleep fast he was exhausted and sleep hit him

It starts from stolen glances when the other isn't looking. This little flutter inside whenever they are close to each other. Lingering in the presence of one another even it's not necessary. Soft, awkward smiles, later holding eye contact and touches longer than they are supposed to.

They gravitate, closer and closer to one another, slowly but surely. Secondo relies on fewer words while Copia babbles, sometimes too much; Secondo finds it amusing and adorable, though he doesn't admit it out loud. Copia relies on Secondo's smiles, the soft look on his face, his touch - knows they tell more than a thousand words can.
