Philadelphia-born illustrator @alexeckmanlawn accidentally stumbled upon the porthole aesthetic that is so distinctive in his collages. "I was making a more traditional, flat collage and noticed that the paper I had cut the pieces out of was more interesting to me than the actual collage that I was building, so I started focusing on carving out spaces and layering those.
