Traveling from his native Korea to the United States, Korea Daily says Chris Chanyang Shim, aka Royyal Dog, decided to travel the country painting and quenching his thirst for open space. In the Bronx he painted three of his favorite rappers, but when he stood in front of an empty wall at LA’s Container Yard he decided to try something new and different. His portrait of a young African American girl wearing a traditional Korean hanbok resulted in an iconic image of both beauty and a statement about multiculturalism and set Royyal Dog on a new trajectory. With several works painted since then at the Container Yard he was back again in early 2018 to paint this Seaton St work inspired by scripture: John 13:34’s commandment to love one another. With help from Hanbok Master @hanbok89 Shim’s crosscultural masterpiece portrays @m_uera, @imablackpearl, and @ta_russia.  @royyaldog  @thecontaineryard
