Can dust be beautiful? Yes, and it can also be useful. The Taurus molecular cloud has several bright stars, but it is the dark dust that really draws attention. The pervasive dust has waves and ripples and makes picturesque dust bunnies, but perhaps more importantly, it marks regions where interstellar gas is dense enough to gravitationally contract to form stars. In the image center is a light cloud lit by neighboring stars that is home not only to a famous nebula, but to a very young and massive famous star. Both the star, T Tauri, and the nebula, Hind's Variable Nebula, are seen to vary dramatically in brightness -- but not necessarily at the same time, adding to the mystery of this intriguing region. T Tauri and similar stars are now generally recognized to be Sun-like stars that are less than a few million years old and so still in the early stages of formation. The featured image spans about four degrees not far from the Pleiades star cluster, while the featured dust field lies about 400 light-years away.

Constellation Revelation Taurus Stereo Power Amplifier Now On Demo!

Hi Everyone,

Another very big toy landed earlier this week, since taking on Constellation around a year ago I have been extremely impressed, most definitely my kind of sound, for me they give the perfect blend of warmth, insight, separation, control and dynamics. We started with Constellations entry level, said in the loosest term, of the Inspiration range which sounds gorgeous but it got me thinking what the next level up would be like, in all honesty I struggle to think that it can be any better, well now we have the Constellation Revelation Taurus Stereo power amp on demo so it is time to find out, it is certainly a far big bigger and heavier that our Inspiration amps.

We certainly seem to be accumulating an amazing selection of amps lately what with the Constellation Inspiration Mono’s, now the Taurus, the Audio Research 160 Mono and Stereo amps, the new Chord Ultima 2’s and not forgetting the favourites with the Naim NAP 500 and Bryston 4B and 7B’s, at the higher end of amplification I would like to think that we have something for everyone.

For now though I am looking forward to getting to listen to the Taurus Stereo to find out what the next level up in the Constellation range brings to the party, needless to say if you’d like to come in for a listen anytime please feel free.

The World At Night - Aldebaran.

A Tumbling Satellite

In this timelapse video a passing satellite is captured while orbiting the Earth, tumbling around it self and flashing in the sky. Many satellites do not have a constant brightness, they give off flashes which are often at regular times. As described by the Satellite Observers (satobs.org/tumble/tumbleintro.html) this flashing behavior is caused by the rotation of the satellite around its rotation axis. The satellite's metallic surfaces act as mirrors for the sun.

In this starry night of La Palma, Canary Islands, stars rise over the famous Isaac Newton Telescope in the observatory complex located on the top of the island. The V-shaped star configuration in this telephoto view is the head of constellation Taurus, the Bull, known as the Hyades star cluster. The bright star is Aldebaran, the Bull's eye.
