“if i’m so incapable of being honest, what makes you think i can even be trusted to answer that question?” they shoot back. a deflection, as always, which only proves her point. but where do they even begin when it comes to honesty? they’re trying, sometimes. more often than not. but gods know jamie hasn’t lived a life that has lead to large amounts of honesty. his parents, after all, spent most of his childhood lying about being in love.

Jay was grateful to have a day off from his internship. It had been so long since he caught a game, he felt better just being here. His friends were all laughing and having a good time even though the game wasn’t as thrilling as they had hoped. One of his friends made his way back with the next round and managed to slosh some over the side. “Jesus, Mac, be careful,” he told him before turning to the girl sitting next to him. “I’m sorry about him. Did he get you?” Jay asked, wanting to make sure the entire group didn’t look like a bunch of entitled assholes. 

“I’m really not judging you for this. You’re looking at the kid who watched fifteen episodes of Law and Order reruns last weekend because I was hungover and didn’t want to work on my journalism article.”

"yes well, maybe i think you are worth it.” a shrug. “or maybe i like to be stupid and stubborn. or maybe both. but... i do think i’d very much like to fuck up whoever convinced you that you aren’t.”

Nick checked his notes one last time before stepping in. Looking up at the first person he saw, a pretty blonde who looked like she could be a distraction, he cleared his throat. “Excuse me, I’m Detective Henderson. I’m investigating a crime and I have a few questions about a client of yours,” he began, taking out a picture. “Have you seen this man recently?” he asked, jumping right to the point.

"okay but how'd you even meet jamie? 'cause it seems kinda wild. unless the answer is drugs, in which case, no judgment. how do you think half of us met them?"

"do you think i'd be here if it was fucking important?" he snaps. "or have you not heard about the corpses found yesterday?" it's a small enough town. he doubts she hasn't heard, doubts she thinks it was an animal attack. whatever it was wasn't human. probably had never been human. not a werewolf or a vampire, but something... worse.
