Floral Surprise: Capturing Nature's Unplanned Beauty
Floral Surprise โ 7โณ x 5โณ Oil on panel โ $135 This small landscape began along a trail Iโve walked many times, a place that quietly shifts through the seasons. I painted it in 2022. I was drawn to the way the forms seemed to gather and loosen at once. Greens rose and folded back into one another. Color carried as much meaning as the land itself. I later returned to this image at a much largerโฆ

Iโm excited to share my latest painting, The Blue Jar and Wilted Blooms. Thereโs something quietly compelling about the way these coneflowers lean toward each other, as if sharing a secret, their golden petals echoing the deep blue of the vintage jar they gather around. I was drawn to this balance of warmth and serenity, and to the way the colors seem to hum togetherโsoft yellows and rich blues creating a gentle dialogue on the canvas. This piece is part of my ongoing exploration of still life, where vintage objects and natural forms meet in a space that feels both familiar and slightly unexpected. I love the way a simple arrangementโa jar, a few blooms, a worn tabletopโcan evoke a sense of intimacy, a quiet story paused in time. Painting it felt like listening to a conversation I could not hear but could sense, where each curve, shadow, and color choice matters. I hope when you look at this painting, you feel that sense of calm connection too. The softness of the flowers against the strong shape of the jar, the interplay of warm and cool tones, and the subtle imperfections in the blooms themselves are all part of the story I want to share with you. If this piece speaks to you, itโs available to view and purchase on my website [link], and Iโd love to hear what it evokes for you. Thank you for letting my work be a part of your day, and for supporting the art that brings these quiet moments into the world.
My wife says that these are annual-type ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ which makes sense because I found them in an annual bed a few weeks ago
Big ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ bed between the barn and the other house
