My final conditional design.
This was built on top of my previous piece. I made some changes so that it could be done on a larger scale, added some more colours and also slightly changed the rules.
I gave the page to my friend group to add to, although the instructions were fairly simple and vague; once one person added a line, more followed quickly. Itโs interesting that lines all are predominantly straight. The rules never mention if the line could be straight or curvy etc.ย
I also added different coloured pens and a larger piece of paper to make it look more like aย โpieceโ. The colours were another interesting factor because some colours ended up being grouped together more often; this could have been an aesthetic preference or rather chance?ย
Its also interesting to see the different sizes of the lines and how many each intersect. this was another variable that was very vague and dependent on the person drawing.
Overall, very happy with this piece, I took the weak points from the last time I tried this and made improvement which i think is fairly clear.ย
This was my conditional design experiment. simple but quite interesting to see how different people interpret a simple task and how they react to others lines. Obviously the lines arenโt perfectly straight because they were hand drawn; think it adds character to the end result.
Week One, Conditional design task given to us at the beginning of class.ย
Week 1. Conditional Design. Some processes of group work in class today. We changed the rules for another group to make it, dare i say, easier for them to get to the final result.
