Compaq Portable 1, AST SixPakPlus install saga
Finally got a period correct AST SixPakPlus card for the luggable and it was a saga to get running.
First blown tantalum
Smoke rises from the corpse...
The first blown tantalum cap... On the luggable's poor suffering motherboard.
The second one... On the AST card
Caps replaced and we're booting again!
Two suspect ram chips replaced, and CheckIt reports a full 640k.
No errors, memory test completed.
Now to clean up, and take a break.
80s Compaq Portable Computer (1983)
unfortunately, i do not have a charger for this computer, so i am unsure if it works. it's absolutely gorgeous though, its dilapidated condition shows it's age. 1983!
alongside the computer, i found my grandmother's old box of floppy disks. if i find a charger for this old thing and manage to get it working, i'll test some of them out and be sure to post them.
so pretty!!!
