McNeely Conservatory by Tim Graul
I have lived in this neighborhood for 21 years
And it took until today for me to realize that this bridge,
Across Lexington Parkway, built in 2001, is based on this bridge!
A pedestrian bridge built to go over the old trolley line in 1904!
I always thought it seemed a little out of place but it's design makes alot more sense now! also yeah if you didn't know! there used to be a trolley that went through Como park and over to Lake Harriet I think? I should dig into that history some more!
P.S.
how much lobbying would it take to get the old trolley line back??? It would be so cool to see it!!!!!
Prequinox. Slowly closing the gap on that imbalance between day and night. Como Park, Saint Paul, MN, a day before the spring equinox.

I thought I would spread the joy of a recording my father did in the late 1970's of our local zoo's carousel, whose calliope had fallen into dreadful disrepair, making for some wonderfully warbled versions of Moon River, 76 Trombones, The Sound of Music and many others.
My father had gotten word that the Como Zoo carousel was going to be put out of service, so he ran along on one of the last days and politely asked the carny working if he could ride along for a day and record the calliope's last moments.
More to hear here.
