Topi’s Daily Card #982: Commit // Memory
When it comes to Aftermath Cards, Commit // Memory may be one of the cards that I’m most looking forward to playing. Commit is a solid counterspell. While it doesn’t do extra like I prefer most spells to do such as replace itself, it’s a hard counter for anything that people cast, and for four mana, it doesn’t just remand it, it puts it into their deck with one card above it. That means unless they draw extra cards, it’s two turns away, giving you ample time to not deal wit the spell. That’s only half though, as it targets nonland permanents as well, letting you target their Theros block god or any other creature to just put into their deck. The permanent bounce is probably done best when they pop a fetch or do a tutor, leading to shuffling the card away and either having them waste their tutor to find it if it’s a legal target, or just shuffle it away and hope they draw it again. Memory is a little easier to understand, and a card that i’m more than okay casting with the Aftermath. The shuffle draw seven effect often exiles itself so that’s more than fair, and being six mana instead of the updated five mana of Time Reversal is kinda trivial in EDH terms. I expect to see this in more than a few decks, particularly spell heavy ones like any Izzet or perhaps Grixis build, but can be splashed wherever you think it’s best.
