Well Covid's having a demonstrably bad effect on media and pop culture lately with films getting pushed back and public events being outright cancelled. We talk about it before having some laughs about geek salutes. Also on the docket, reviews of Onward, Spenser: Confidential, Bloodshot, and the new seasons of Castlevania and Cosmos plus the news on this week's extra bleak edition of the Nerdy Venoms!
THIS WEEK'S THEME SONG: Konami Kukeiha Club -- "Deja Vu (Vampire Killer)"
Will COVID-19 will change the way comic book conventions will look down the road?
The novel coronavirus is like every horror, disaster movie you ever watched except now it has become our “virtual reality”.
It’s like the Universe got sick and tired of us here on earth and hit the reset button.
With folks who had booked flights, hotel rooms and purchased tickets, months in advance and some even a whole year to now see everything exploding into chaos.
As you sit at home not sure if your event is going to be canceled, because honestly,it did some a lot longer than I expected to put their customers, vendors and talent first than their bottom line or maybe they were looking at the flags to see if the virus would just blow a little over there.....way over there.
Customers (attendees) because that is what we are, expressing deep concern about is it wise to continue with this, with it being in Seattle?
Eventually, attendees were issued refunds for those, who rather be safe than sorry and not attend this year’s Emerald City Comic Convention.
Although,it took a bit of a minute before the event organizers, officially postponed the event for later in the year....you just have to re-purchase badges for that event.
There is no way any major comic book event or any large event, which will have thousands upon thousands of people practically on top of each other.
Keep with the CDC’s recommendation of a 6 ft space between you and another person, that is definitely not happening at any major Pop Culture event,no matter how hard your brain wants to imagine it.
The minute you sneeze and you don’t cover your mouth, with your nasty self.
It has spread, damn near 6ft and flew in someone’s mouth and into another person’s nasal passages
COVID-19 doesn't need your help.
We might all be a little bummed with the situation but I think,we want all our fellow Geeks to stay safe and well,so we can get our t-shirts and key chains that say, ”I survived COVID-19..bitches!”
