“Chris Trew is a bit of a renaissance man from an alternate universe” ⚡️ For years I toured my show “Comedy With Strangers” to festivals all over the country. That’s a quote from The Chicagoist blog who previewed my appearance at the Chicago Improv Festival. Here’s another that explains how the show works: “Trew will bring two strangers from the audience on stage with him to perform a full improv comedy show. It sounds like it wouldn't work, but Trew is good enough (and weird enough) that it does. Chris Trew never puts on the same show twice, and he's a hustling, hard-working comedian who is, in a word, unforgettable.” I’ve been secretly workshopping the same idea but for standup. This theater was where I started my comedy experiment “Trew +2.” The concept was that every show featured me +2 different people every single time. Then I wanted to make it more challenging so I changed the name to “Comedy with Strangers” and brought up 2 people from the crowd who I never met, who also had no experience performing. I teach them the basics in front of everyone and then we do a show. So simple, so terrifying, so magical. The show has been featured at comedy festivals in Chicago, Houston, Norfolk, Richmond, Phoenix, Austin, and Providence. I’m itching to bring it to your city, event, festival, conference. Last year I did a version of this show at an awards show in Albuquerque.
