a starry night*
I love playing with colour blocks, and have been exploring how to integrate that into more finished-looking pieces. I don’t know if it’s quite there yet, but it’s starting to feel like progress!
Twitter and IG followers have seen this in its less polished stage, but here’s a fishy gouache painting + digital editing. Reference was a photo from the Tokyo fish market taken years ago and re-discovered in my mom’s basement!
Some colour block stuff I did a while back (Guess who’s playing catch up again?) I liked how a lot of artists would do this as practice, so I decided to join in! The first one is of me and my best friend, Chelsey. I learnt a lot about the differences and similarities in our appearences, especially loved doing any that were up closes of eyes.
The second is based on characters from Steven Universe (owned by Rebecca Sugar) I enjoyed this as an experiment, but not as happy with it as the first one. If I’ve learnt anything from this one it’s that I will be drawing Amethyst more.
