 Color systems are dependent on the medium with which a designer is working. When painting, an artist has a variety of paints to choose from, and mixed colors are achieved through the subtractive color method. When a designer is utilizing the computer to generate digital media, colors are achieved with the additive color method. 

SUBTRACTIVE COLOR. When we mix colors using paint, or through the printing process, we are using the subtractive color method. Subtractive color mixing means that one begins with white and ends with black; as one adds color, the result gets darker and tends to black. The CMYK color system is the color system used for printing. Those colors used in painting—an example of the subtractive color method.  ADDITIVE COLOR. If we are working on a computer, the colors we see on the screen are created with light using the additive color method. Additive color mixing begins with black and ends with white; as more color is added, the result is lighter and tends to white. The RGB colors are light primaries and colors are created with light. Percentages of red, green, & blue light are used to generate color on a computer screen. 

 I created the color wheels by using the Photopea editor as my substitute for Adobe Photoshop. It’s not too difficult if you can recognize the different types of hue, saturation and brightness. I enjoyed it all thought out the activity. 

RGB COLOR WHEEL

The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green, and blue. The RGB Color System are Red, Green and Blue, that is used in television  screens, digital cameras, scanners, smartphone, Televisions, LCD &  etc.

By the help of Color Picker, I was able to know the values of every hue that also incudes it’s saturation and brightness. That is why color picker is one of the important part of creating a color wheel. 

The main purpose of the RGB color model is for the sensing, representation, and display of images in electronic systems, such as televisions and computers, though it has also been used in conventional photography.

CMYK COLOR WHEEL 

CMYK refers to the primary colors of pigment: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. These are the inks used on the press in "4-color process printing", commonly referred to as "full color printing" or "four color printing". These are the four basic colors used for printing color images. Unlike RGB (red, green, blue), which is used for creating images on your computer screen, CMYK colors are "subtractive." This means the colors get darker as you blend them together.

CMYK printing is the standard in the industry. The reason printing uses CMYK comes down to an explanation of the colors themselves. This gives CMY a much wider range of colors compared to just RGB. The use of CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) for printing has become kind of a trope for printers.

Color plays a vitally important role in the world in which we live. Color can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. It can irritate or soothe your eyes, raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite. When used in the right ways, color can even save on energy consumption.
