Happy New Year!

Christmas hasn’t felt the same for me in a long time. It used to be exciting, but now it mostly comes with fear and anxiety. Too many bad memories are tied to this time of year, and honestly, I just feel drained. People say that having kids brings back the magic, that you start seeing Christmas differently through their eyes. But I don’t know… right now, it all just feels exhausting.
At the same time, I’ve realized that, at least for me, the good times won’t come back by force. No amount of carols, decorations, or Christmas movies will magically make me feel better, because they all just feel like a task—something screaming at me: "DO YOU FEEL IT NOW!?"
But what I’ve found to actually help is separating the "big bad thing" from the present. Something like: "Yes, on that day, the big bad thing happened. But today, even though it’s the same date, I am safe, I am loved, I am here." And if I’m really lucky, on this same date, a "little good thing" will happen. Or maybe, why not, even a "big good thing" will happen. It won’t erase the "big bad thing", but they’ll be able to sit together inside of me—making, finally, a strangely beautiful mix of emotions.

Today was one of those days when you turn on the light from the very morning and the sky is a gray block.

I don't always post photos from the other side of the building, but when I do... it's because I have nothing else from that day 😅
