πΈπΈ HAPPY COLLOYD DAY! πΈπΈ
To celebrate the end of Colloydweek and after many years of drawing Symphonia I finally felt I had enough drawings to put together an artbook (47 full colour pages). Here's some previews!
-- You can either click here to grab it as a FREE PDF on Gumroad!! --
OR if you want the PHYSICAL COPY it's available on Lulu here!!!;
A collection of Tales of Symphonia art made between 2020-2023 by artist Frayed-Symphony.
I've met so many wonderful people through the Tales fandom and this book is definitely my love letter to the game! I hope you enjoy it!
The Penguinist Problem (Colloyd Day 2024)
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia
Pairing: Lloyd Irving/Colette Brunel
Summary: It's Colloyd Day in Iselia! Thanks to the endless coffers of diehard Colloyd faithful, everything Tales of Symphonia lines the countryside streets with fandom monuments aplenty -- and all for the union between Lloyd Irving and Colette Brunel! What could be more fitting for the wedding of the millennium?
But really, all Lloyd wants is the perfect wedding for Colette -- and a morning fitting gone horribly wrong may well ruin their special day! Will he be able to fix things in time, and if not...will Colette still accept him?
Commentary: My 20k (!) absurdist comedy wedding multichap for Colloyd Day 2024 is here!
In typical Baron Ali fashion, I worked way, way too hard on this (I spent the past week doing nothing but working on this) and watched helplessly as this ballooned beyond my wildest dreams. Regardless, it's as much a tribute to Colloyd/Tales of Symphonia as any, so please enjoy the zaniness and fluff therein.

Colloyd day
TOS Colloyd Wedding Day Fic is...
Now five chapters, complete with an epilogue. 57 Word doc pages. 17,900k+ words. Filled to the brim with more references, self-aware humor, Colloyd/Tales of Symphonia fandom jabs, and insanity than you can shake a stick at.
And I still ain't finished. The things I do for this RPG.
Thankfully, the light's at the end of the tunnel -- things should be wrapped up by tomorrow -- but once again, I have fallen prey to my multi-fic temptations. See, every time I embark on one of these things, I always underestimate the workload and how the channels of inspiration just keep pouring new ideas into it all, and the story keeps ballooning, and ballooning, and ballooning...
As you'd expect from someone whose writing speed is slow as molasses, this makes for quite the laborious writing process, and it's plagued me for a very long time. While thankfully I'm still having fun writing it -- I've cracked up more times than I can count writing this -- it doesn't make for an especially healthy lifestyle. Honestly, it's long since past time for a different approach to writing, but that'll be a whole undertaking in itself -- one I'd like to discuss at a later date.
There's a whole mess of emotions as to why this is the case -- my previous Tales of Symphonia work (just down the dirt road) almost fell victim to the same trap -- but in this case, a variety of factors made this venture particularly difficult. For now, let's just say that unlike said piece, I didn't have the heart to cut any of the big ideas in this one -- look forward to my end notes this Saturday.
As always, my top priority (and concern!) is to satisfy my fellow readers/writers. With how big it's gotten, I imagine it may be rather daunting with all the other Colloyd wedding works arriving on the same date (even if the fandom's dwindled these days *cough* *cough*), but in the meantime, I hope you'll laugh along with me. See you Saturday! Let's indulge in all the fluff our favorite couple deserves.

FINALLY finished my fic for Colloyd Day, was uploading it and found an unexpected formatting error I had to manually edit line by line, accidentally posted it too early with a missing chapter, couldn't revert it back to draft and had to delete it. Now I gotta do it all over again. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
(No, seriously, you can't revert multichaps to a draft? Granted, I was panicking and this was a *very* particular problem, but that's kinda weird. Maybe it's a bandwidth/space thing? I guess that'd make sense -- wouldn't want an in-progress/complete fic accidently deleted to the ether once time's up.
Still, I dunno if anything will ever match "fic exchanges' general lack of transparency regarding pro-reveal anonymity" as the weirdest function/convention I've seen on AO3, but this comes pretty close. At least I can actually guess the reasons behind it.)
for colloyd day ^0^
