Il se perfectionne jusquâĂ trouver son style, quâil exprime en 1978 lorsquâil dessine pour la premiĂšre fois un robot. Initialement, les compĂ©tences de Hajime Sorayama sont sollicitĂ©es pour dessiner un personnage inspirĂ© de C-3PO de Star Wars, mais lâartiste veut sâĂ©loigner du robot de George Lucas pour crĂ©er un genre nouveau qui va lui confĂ©rer une notoriĂ©tĂ© internationale, que lâon peut qualifier de cyber-Ă©rotisme. Son premier livre, publiĂ© en 1983, est sobrement intitulé Sexy Robot. He immediately became famous for his innovative works mixing pin-ups and science fiction, and museums all over the world snapped up his work. This success allowed him to collaborate with major brands such as Dior, Uniqlo, and even Sony for whom he designed AIBO, the robot dog released in 1999. Hajime Sorayama's work has an influence that extends beyond the borders of Japan, and resonates in fields as diverse as film and fashion.
