still thinking about the role reversal yume au so here's me yapping about what kind of media my self inserts are from in my f/os' universes in this au and my f/os' sharing statuses
Sal is from an indi action-adventure game set in a universe where dinosaurs still exist that Tomura was able to beta test. Sal is a small dinosaur rehabilitator side character that Tomura latched onto after his first play through. Originally Sal only had a few lines and a single side quest, but Tomura convinced the dev to give them more lines and the ability to gift materials to them.
Tomura is nonsharing. In theory he could be selective sharing, but so few people know about the game and even fewer actually characterize Sal correctly (according to him). He's lowkey kinda toxic about it though, because if he sees something he considers a stupid take, instead of blocking he will argue with op for literal days, the og poster will have to block him first if they want it to stop.
Elke is from a mystery novel series that Nahida had given him. Originally, he had no plans to read it but he got bored enough one day trying to hide from all the other students of the Akademiya that he started reading the first book. He found the main character not very compelling, but the supporting character, Elke, was much more intriguing to him. Inara continued reading the series just for him. Elke dies in the second to last book in the series, and Nahida barely stopped him from sending hate mail to the author about it.
Since there isn't really a way for selfshippers to connect in Teyvat like how the internet allows, Inara doesn't have a proclaimed sharing status, but if he Did, he would be nonsharing and very anti cc x cc ships with Elke. Especially if they're being shipped with the main character.
Dusk is from a gothic horror dating sim that Gloomurai put him onto. Dusk is the love interest of the secret route, and is notoriously a very divisive character in the online fandom. Fans of the game either find him extremely off-putting yet too timid of a character to be the secret route, or they infantilize and baby Dusk rather than see them as the complex (and romanceable!!) character he is. Lilia just thinks Dusk is autistic.
Lilia is hypersharing! But sadly, very few people have the acquired taste for the kind of personality Dusk is. When he Does come across other Dusk selfshippers, he gets really happy! He loves when others love Dusk, because in Lilia's mind his f/o is the best and deserves the world (and ten billion boyfriends and girlfriends). Lilia will also try to convert people over to his oshi, Gloomurai/Pop Music Club/Diasomnia have heard the pitch several times.
Wren is a character in a cozy stat-raising visual novel set in a natural history museum. Normally not the setting or theme Chitose would be interested in, but the cute art style drew her in. He originally planned to play it very casually, but when she met Wren in the game, he locked in so hard he finished her first playthrough in 3 days and was already hunting down cosplay pieces, buying the wig, and texting Marin to play the game.
Chitose is Heavily nonsharing, and very possessive of his f/o. She'll even block people who don't selfship with Wren and just have them as their oshi. But despite this, he is Very respectful about it, and doesn't go out of her way to find them. Very proactive in blocking cc x cc ships with Wren. He also garners a bit of a following online for her selfship even though he doesn't talk much about it online because she posted her cosplay and it popped off a bit. It did mean that she had an influx of blocking he needed to do, but he did get a few pieces of fanart of her and Wren out of it too which are printed and put up on his wall.
