Did I succeed at making Marigold look more like an actual marigold? I'll let you be the judge of that.

Coffee Bean in Manehattan
A fun flash fic commission for @ask-twizilla
Coffee Bean smiled as he gazed out at the Manehattan skyline. He closed his eyes as the cool night breeze ruffled his mane and tail as he relaxed on the rooftop of his hotel. The night was always so beautiful here, the stars visible in spite of the lights of the big city. He sipped at his warm cup of coffee, sitting it down on the raised edge of the rooftop, not noticing the slow, steady ripples forming as if something were shaking the earth itself with slow, rhythmic beats.
Coffee’s ear twitched as he started hearing things coming from the distance. Sirens, screams, crashing noises. He could see the flickering of something on fire illuminating the city from behind. Then, he felt the low, heavy booming vibrating through the building beneath him.
A pale hoof the size of a sedan lifted up over one of the skyscrapers. He stared in awe at the gleaming white fur of the foreleg as it came crashing down. The building split in half, crumbling off to the sides like curtains parting on some grand stage for the big reveal.
His eyes widened as a section of stars were blotted out by something monstrously huge. His heart hammered in his chest as his mind was screaming at him to run while he stood frozen in place. It was her, it was really her. The lights from below finally illuminated her pale white fur, her deep crimson unkempt mane, her glaring red eyes, full of malice and rage.
She let out an earsplitting roar as she thundered through the city, destroying anything in her path. She was every bit as unstoppable as she had been in the movies Coffee had watched… over and over again.. Almost every weekend. He shook his head and rubbed at his eyes, this couldn’t be real! She was just a character from a series of sci-fi movies!
As she turned to smash yet another towering building to so much rubble, he saw the one thing that convinced him beyond any shadow of a doubt that this was her, and she was very real. There, on her flank, was the cutie mark of the Giant of Manehattan. A deep red circle emblazoned with the image of a pale blue strand of DNA was right there on her flank for all to see.
His heart was hammering in his chest as he walked to the edge of the rooftop, accidentally knocking his coffee cup off of the edge. He looked down, seeing it falling towards the ground far below in slow motion as if it were all a dream. It shattered upon impact with the ground, coffee splashing out in all directions, barely audible to him so far above the ground.
However, someone else had heard it. She heard it hit the ground and smash to bits, her sensitive ears twitched as they sniffed the air. Her sensitive nose picked up the scent of the essence of warm roasted coffee beans.
She lowered her head and started sniffing at the ground, making her way through the city. Cars, phone booths, merchant carts, all of them vanished, crushed under her massive hooves as she made her way closer to the source of the scent. A scent she was drawn to by some unknown reason. Finally, she sniffed at the tiny puddle and gave it a curious lick.
She gave a quiet, happy rumble as she lapped it up, crunching the tiny shards of ceramic with her massive teeth before lifting her head and looking up. She could see Coffee Bean high above on the rooftop and grinned.
Rising up onto her hind legs, she rested her front hooves on the rooftop on either size of the frozen stallion. Coffee swallowed hard as he blurted out, “H.. hi there…”
The massive mare tilted her head making a low noise, much like a “skronk!” and sniffed at him, pinning him down with her surprisingly soft nose. He shivered as she sniffed him, then lapped at him with a huge, wet tongue before gathering him carefully in her hooves. She lifted him up, resting him on top of her head, nestled into her crimson mane just in time. The building Coffee had just been standing on collapsed under her massive weight, crumbling to the ground in seconds.
Coffee held onto her mane for dear life as the building fell. Her hooves were rapidly tearing through it, meaning her head was lowering fast. He felt like he was riding down in the express elevator from hell until her hooves hit the ground and she bent her forelegs to absorb the shock. He barely felt a jolt as she stood on all four hooves once more, scanning the city.
Unable to think of what else to do, Coffee makes his way through her mane to reach one of her ears. He calls to her, causing her ear to flick at first. It almost struck him, which sure would have sent him flying like a baseball struck by a homerun bat. She casually continued on her path of destruction as she heard his tiny voice coming through.
“Hey! Do you have a name, or should I just keep calling you the Giant of Manehattan?”
He got a series of growls, skronks and chirps in response, almost as though she were trying to talk to him, and confident of his ability to understand her.
Oddly enough, he did understand, at least enough to get the general idea of what she was attempting to say. It’s almost like there was some kind of mental connection between the two of them.
She reached a low, long building that Coffee recognized, it was the lab of his friend, Victor, a zebra who had more than a passing interest in studying REAL giants and giantesses, finding out what makes them tick and how they became gigantic. The red-maned zebra was on his rooftop, waving up at them as the huge, white hoof swung over his rooftop, about to come crashing down.
Coffee yelled for her to stop, that this was a friend. The giantess made a soft snorting sound, glaring down at the zebra before carefully stepping over the building. She seemed content with smashing a decorative fountain at the back of the building.
Victor shook his head, staring after them as they continued crashing through the city, making their way towards the nearby mountains. He could hear Coffee’s voice far above and also her odd vocalizations as she answered him. Tilting his head he slowly headed back down into the lab itself. It seemed he had more work to do.
