With Aaron Judge on the hunt to tie and surpass the Major League record for most homers for a rookie, the favorite for NL Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger has set his own homer record. With his 39th homer of the season, Bellinger broke the National League record for most homers for a season. Who held the record before him? Two players actually. Wally Berger set the record with the Boston Braves in 1930. Future Hall of Famer Frank Robinson tied the record with the Cincinnati Reds in his rookie season of 1956. Robinson would win the NL Rookie of the Year. There was no Rookie of the Year award when Berger was a rookie in 1930.
