During my topical steroid withdrawal, I knew I was just existing. I allowed myself to feel sorry, depressed, isolate myself, and discouraged. But that was OK, because I had to really emotionally hit rock bottom before I realized that I wanted to live. Even though my body felt like crap, I made sure to find a way for me to live. I put my big girl panties on, wore the cotton gloves on my hands because that’s where I’ve always had my eczema. And I was able to wear long sleeve, scarves and long pants to hide the other outbreaks that came out during my withdrawal. I made time to start meeting up with my friends again. I made up my mind that I didn’t care what people thought of me when I wore those Michael Jackson gloves. And I actually started to live life again. And when I did it just seemed like my recovery started to go faster. I woke up early this morning at 4am and wanted to pick up my marker and paper and draw... this really makes me happy and keeps me in my happy place which everyone should have and go to as often as possible. For about two years I really sacrifice what was important for my health. One year of topical steroid withdrawal, and another year about really changing what didn't work for me and finding all the triggers from my eczema, and it wasn't easy, there were so many dark days and I felt alone. But I promise there's always something good from the something bad, and we grow to the next phase of our life.
