London coachbuilder Wood and Pickett converted classic Range Rovers into full convertibles to order. This 1984 Sheer Range Rover Cabriolet at the London Concours shows the slanted horizontal grille that completely masked the traditional factory fascia.
Presented in the Wildcards section of this year’s London Concours was one of 110 Sunbeam Alpine cars converted by Sussex coachbuilder Thomas Harrington Limited with full factory approval from the Rootes Group. From 1961 the cars were transformed from the standard Sunbeam Alpine convertible into a hardtop fastback coupe.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Typo 105 was designed at Bertone by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Bertone also produced the maquette for the GTC convertible version however, Carrozzeria Touring was contracted to make the GTC because of a lack of capacity at Bertone. Production began in 1964, but by 1966, Touring was in financial difficulty, so only 998 were made.Â

A beach car version of the BMW Isetta 600 by coachbuilder Moretti was created in 1958. The BMW Isetta 600 Spiaggina was powered by a 582cc flat-twin engine. Moretti offered the car on a special order basis, but it’s unclear how many were sold.
The Sunbeam Venezia Superleggera was the product of a collaboration between the British Rootes Group and the Milan-based coachbuilders Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Based on the Sunbeam Rapier floor pan, the Venezia struggled to find buyers due to its high cost and humble underpinnings. Introduced in St Mark's Square, on September 12, 1963, production had ended by 1965 with a mere 203 having been produced.
Long before the Range Rover of 1970, Land Rover experimented with a “lifestyle” 4X4 in collaboration with Newport Pagnell-based coachbuilders Tickford Ltd. Presented as a prototype in 1948, the Land Rover Tickford Station Wagon was not a success, largely due to its high cost, with only 641 sales before the model was withdrawn from the market.Â
