Ken Key's Top Node.js Performance Tricks for Scalable Apps
HOW KEN KEY OPTIMIZES NODE.JS PERFORMANCE IN NEW YORK Node.js performance optimization is a critical skill for developers building fast, scalable applications. Ken Key, a Long Island-based software engineer, has developed practical techniques that push Node.js to its limits. NON-BLOCKING I/O Node.js handles multiple requests simultaneously through non-blocking I/O. This means your app stays responsive even under heavy load — no waiting around for one task to finish before starting the next. THE EVENT LOOP The event loop is what keeps Node.js efficient. Ken leverages it to process callbacks and async operations with low latency and high throughput. CLUSTERING FOR SCALABILITY Node.js runs on a single thread by default. Clustering spreads the workload across multiple CPU cores, dramatically improving how many connections your app can handle at once. LOAD BALANCING Effective load balancing distributes traffic evenly across clustered processes. This prevents bottlenecks and keeps response times consistent during peak usage. WHY THESE TRICKS MATTER IN 2026 As New York's tech scene grows more competitive, performance optimization is no longer optional. Applying these Node.js strategies can meaningfully improve both user experience and application reliability.
Types of Machine Learning Explained: Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement Learning
Alright, you’ve got the basics down from Part 1. Now comes the question I get asked constantly: “What type of ML should I use for [X]?” The answer is almost always “it depends,” but let me break down the actual decision framework I use. There are three main flavors of ML, and picking the wrong one can waste months of work. I’ve made that mistake. Let’s make sure you don’t. Quick Navigation: Part…

"Turtle's peculiar shape is due to hardened psychic mass, aka "clustering", which is a buildup of spent psychic energy that couldn't escape their body fast enough. this doesn't normally happen to a well-conjured psychomancer unless something prevents them from shedding that spent energy.
"fear's 'bones' are an example of a poorly-conjured psychomancer that's unable to properly release their spent energy. natural clustering tends to take on a skeleton-like shape. perhaps this phenomenon has to due with their human-mimicry, where their core naturally wants to become even more human-like with solid bones.
"there are rumors of a mysterious ancient 'psychomancer killer' that is able to forcibly block psychomancers from releasing their energy, resulting in them being encased inside a pot-like structure of their own mass, like Turtle. in most cases, it'd eventually snuff out the core, leaving it trapped inside, unable to be easily removed by anybody other than the original conjurer. however, due to Turtle's unique abilities, it was able to avoid this fate-though they are now very, very weak and pale.
"it's said that most ancient psychomancer cores are trapped in this form and buried deep underground where they'd never meet the light of day ever again. most of the known, active psychomancers avoided this fate. they were simply reconjured by a psychic cult each time they were snuffed out. why some cores were kept around, while others were condemned isn't clear. maybe it was simply coincidence, and there isn't anything more to it."
Q: also how long does the process of clustering normally take? is it sudden or does it take a while
A: the speed of clustering can depend on a few factors, the main three being the inefficiency of the psychomancer's body, how many outputs ("flames") they have, and how much energy they're spending at once. it's more likely to happen with sudden, powerful bursts due to the excess spent energy created in one instant. the actual act of clustering only takes a few seconds, about the speed of a cloth being dyed from an open wound.
also, this isn't important, but psychomancers that are entirely consumed by cluster either look like a full skeleton made of cluster (usually in slower, more gradual cases), or in worst-cases, they suddenly become a statue of themselves, with cavities exposing the cluster skeleton inside. (usually in more extreme, "final-burst" scenarios)
Q: would it be possible for a psychomancer to break themself free or be freed by someone else before their core is snuffed out?
A: unfortunately it's impossible by anybody who isn't an absurdly powerful psychic... so there's nothing that can be done for poor turtle... pitiful thing will only live for maybe another hundred years...
