REBOUND: Double Life Revamped
“Hello everyone and welcome back to Double Life”, Grian's voice announces over the world, “Pretty similar to the last session, except there’s a few twists. We have six new members we added since the last go around and an added twist.
Each partnership is represented with your designated color tie. These ties break if the relationship between your soulmate breaks. These ties can weave with other available players, but it doesn’t always end well.
Life count is the average of three lives. However, hearts work similar to Limited Life. If you kill, you and your soulmate receive a new row of hearts. Hearts that are nonrenewable.
That’s all the rules. So without further ado, we'll roll for our partners and let's go!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Around half an hour later, she hears footsteps and voices coming through the cave roof. Muffled and fuzzy, but you can make out some of the words being said. She could hear around three people conversing and it was not a friendly exchange.
“How could you do that?!” the first voice hollered, “It’s only day one!!”
His voice was deep and with a hint of monotone in it. Even in his great expression, the monotone carried under his
“There’s no possible logic behind our methods.” The second said with a smirk wrapped around their words.
“Can’t believe Grian let you two be paired together.”
“I did no such thing!!!!” Grian’s signature screeched echoed, “It’s randomized! How was I gonna know they’d pair these two up?”
“We’re the ArsonHawks!!!” another voice cheered, raspy and spunky.
“You better watch out! We’re gonna win this time!!” The second voice accompanied the last. The second voice, now undeniably being Scar’s.
“ArsonHawks?” Grian arched an eyebrow, “Is that because his thing is hawkeye and yours is arson chaos type thing?”
The two flicked between each other and back to Grian, awkwardly.
“...nooooo” they both replied.
Clover chuckles from the cave below and then climbs her way out.
She scares the group above as she peeks out between the two pairs of soulmates. Though she recognized Grian, it shocked to see who he was defending and who he was defending against. It was Scar and another new member against Grian and Etho. The new member was a scrappy lass named Luna. She was like the chaotic energy of Scar and Grian wrapped in an equally lovely and terrifying package.
“Where in the world did you come from?” Scar chuckles
“The- the mines under y’all. I could hear both of you bickering. Like an old married couple or something. What happened?”
“These two cheeky chaps,” Grian began, “Burnt down the friendship flat!”
“The friendship flat! It’s the little home Etho and I made.”
“These two lunatics burnt it down.” Etho grumbles, crossing his arms.
“You guys can’t be burning things. It’s only day one.”
Luna and Scar just give each other a blank look that quickly turns to a mischievous smile. She whispers something in Scar’s ear where he looks confused, but they both put their hands flat out in front of them, elbows bent at their sides. Clover arches an eyebrow of confusion, but then shrieks in horror.
Upon their departure, the ArsonHawks scream-
“NOOOOOO!!!!!!” Clover groans.
Grian stifles a laugh while Etho stands around confused. The ArsonHawks sprint away, cackling like a pair of middle schoolers at recess.
“You gotta give it to them on that one. That was pretty funny.”
“Not as funny when you hear it 24/7.”
“Is that another one of those pop culture things I don’t know?”
“Yes, Etho.” She sighs, "Unfortunately the brainrot of my generation continues to deteriorate my will to live.”
“Snappers.” Grian finishes his sentence with a snicker.
“Anywho, besides the unfortunate event of your place burning on day one.. How is everything going?”
“It’s going. How about you? Who’s your soulmate?”
“Not sure. I’ve been in the caves and haven’t gotten in much trouble. Nothing really crazy but-”
A sharp pain struck Clover’s heart. She lost three hearts- then two more.
“AH! NO! WAIT!” She quickly tries to eat food and heal over her lost hearts.
“Wait, wait, do you need food or-”
“I don’t know, I don’t know! I-”
All of a sudden, Clover drops to her knees. The light from her eyes was gone and the world before her cut to black. Etho and Grian are standing in front of her lifeless body before it vanishes.
“Was that because of her soulmate?”
“Yeah. What was it though?”

“She’s paired with Martyn!"
“It’s gonna be a bloodbath of a season, eh?”
The violet ties wander off to find their back home for reconstruction of their home.
Clover and Marytn both appear at the campfire spawn. A wave of awkwardness washes over them,
“Hey, hey, hey, to be fair. I was just trying to get gear and I wasn’t exactly paying attention.”
“Were you even being careful?”
“So careful as you lost us our first lives?”
“Listen here, young lady, you can tone down that sass. We’re soulmates so we have to get along ok?”
“How can you be this cold hearted? It’s all apart of the game-”
“No. It’s because I don’t like you.”
“Correction- Blunt.” She smirked, “You and Ren are thick as thieves and I don’t trust anyone who’s close to him.”
A glint crosses his eyes. He stares down at Clover, the emerald ties between them straining.
“Oh, you’re that Clover, aren’t you?”
At first he smiled. Then, he couldn’t help but burst into laughter. It began to float with delight but eventually sunk to a short manic snicker.
“OH! This is precious!!!” He exclaimed, “You were sooo adamant on siding with Grian so much before. And now you’re stuck with me! How interesting is that, you little enderling?”
“Ren only called me that. Well, Enderling, creature, amongst other terrible things. But if you’re going to be the person I have to endure this entire time with, I would prefer you refer to me as my given name. Clover. Clover is all.”
“Hm. Fine.” Martyn shrugged, “Fine by me with whatever you want to be called by. Just don’t expect us to be making that many friends.”
“Well, I’m sort of a difficult person to be allied with. No one ever knows if I’m being 100% truthful or not.”
“That’s one thing we apparently have in common.”
“We both have two sides to us, Martyn, like a coin. One side is pretty and most people see that side, they trust that side. Then when you flip it, you don’t know who you’re looking at anymore.”
His snarky comment was hastily interrupted by Clover’s backhand across his face.
“You know what I mean. If we’re going to win this, we aren’t playing fair.”
“Wait- we?” He smiled, “You actually want to be soulmates?”
“Until you give me a reason otherwise, I’ll trust you.”
She extends her hand to him. As deceitful and cunning the two of them were, her gesture was genuine and he read it well. His hand clasps hers gently while the thin ties around their wrists emanate a bold evergreen hue.
