#clone shenanigans

Talia made another Damian Clone and send him to Gotham for the usual reason. Except that Danny, who is Damians friend because the plot requires it, runs into the clone first and mistakes him for Damian at first. Danny greets the clone with a hug, and a bright, friendly smile. Its the first good touch, and speck of kindness the clone has ever felt and he becomes instantly attached to Danny. Of course, when 'Damian' didn't try to stab Danny for hugging him, like he usually does, Danny realises the clone isn't Damian, and pulls away but the clone just grabs his arm and holds on tight. Danny decides to just go with it, because of course he does.

Danny: So what's your name?

Clone: ....

Danny: Its probably Damian like your template, or you just don't have one. That's okay, let's think of something else for you. Come on there's a really good diner around the corner. Are you vegetarian too? I'm pretty sure they have vegetarian options.

Anyway Danny and the Clone(who does decide on a name but I'm lazy and can't think of one so you can think of one yourself) end up spending the day together. Mostly its Danny chattering away while the clone just listens and hums and stares at Danny like this: 🥺 all day. Danny brings him home and let's the clone stay with him for the night and totally forgets to tell Damian about him until the next day while hes making them pancakes.

Danny, texting Damian: Oh yeah! I met one of your clones yesterday! Hes staying with me for a bit! He picked the name *inster name*!

Damian, crashing in through Danny's window 3.5 seconds later wielding a sword: Where is it?!

Danny: Damian, thats rude. *inster name* uses he/him pronouns.

The 212th discovers this completely by accident when they are trapped in some ancient temple ruins and come across the most ridiculous puzzle imaginable: a sealed door that only opens if someone sings every note perfectly.

Naturally, the troopers try first. It goes about as well as you would expect. They are all standing around, arguing over pitch and rhythm, when Obi-Wan takes one brief look at the inscription, tilts his head, and without a hint of hesitation sings.

And it is… stunning. Enough to bring tears to their eyes. The door slides open with a deep, ancient groan.

Obi-Wan, completely unfazed, folds his hands into his sleeves and says, “Ah, here we are. Gentlemen.”

Meanwhile, every single member of the 212th is frozen in place, jaws somewhere on the floor.

Commander Cody, under his helmet, may or may not be having a nosebleed.

After that, the 212th start inventing reasons for their general to sing. Obi-Wan is deeply suspicious but occasionally indulges them.

A Clone Wars Tale

“Here, pick one! Just one and no peeking!” Fives instructed to a small gathering of rookies. The younger troopers looked at him suspiciously. Rex watched as Fives held out a medium sized, light blue bag. Each rookie stuck their hand in and each pulled out a different looking candy.

“What’s this?” Rex asked, curious but also suspicious.

“Candy Roulette, Captain.” Fives replied. Echo, Jesse, and Hardcase nodded in agreement.

“Fives invented it.” Jesse added. Rex watched as the apprehensive rookies each ate their candy. Two of them looked pleasantly surprised.

“Nice, sweet but not too sweet.”

One rookie screwed up his face a bit.

“This one is a little sour, but fruity.”

The last two rookies lips puckered and their faces contorted almost instantly.

“Oh kriff, this one is sour!!” His companion nodded as he coughed a bit, eyes watering.

Fives gave a satisfied nod. “Excellent.”

“What to try Captain?” Echo asked. Rex looked at the offered bag with extreme uncertainly. Leaving his comfort to chance. He did that on the regular but something about this seemed, worse?

“Do you know which is which?”

“Nope, I asked the shop owner to mix sour and sweet and I didn’t bother getting the pamphlet that explained which was what.” Fives said proudly.

“And it was all in some language we don’t know…so really, we couldn’t read the pamphlet even if we did have it.” Hardcase added, also proudly.

“And I had to sign a waiver, I think, for it, so who really knows how bad it is in there.” Fives said, again, proudly.

“Life is a mystery Captain.” Jesse said sagely.

Rex signed and reached in and pulled out a light pink gummy shaped like a half moon. It didn’t look that bad.

“Oooooohhh, General Skywalker got that one. He liked it.” Fives said. Rex reached the gummy under his helmet-

“Hey! No cheating Captain. Bucket off.” Jesse said. Rex sighed, took his helmet off and promptly ate the gummy as the troopers gathered watched him with bated breath.

It. Was. Sour. And by sour, it was the most sour thing Rex had ever tasted. And he had tasted Ahsoka’s caf, so this was saying something. But his poker face was excellent.

“Hm, not bad. A bit sour, but has a slight fruity hint.” He reported. Fives looked disappointed, but Echo held a hand up, closely studying Rex’s face.

“Aha! His eyes are starting to water!!”

It was over when Echo made the announcement. Rex coughed and contorted his face as the sour crystals punched his taste buds. It was almost painful. He managed to swallow the gummy though.

“I’m proud of you Captain. That one tried to take out General Skywalker. It would’ve succeeded too if it hadn’t been for Kix doing the Heimlich on him.” Fives said with a pat on Rex’s shoulder.

Rex watched that bag get passed around the troops for the entire mission. Fives got his credits worth. He watched Generals Skywalker and Kenobi try one. He watched Fives challenge Ahsoka. He even offered the bag to a group of local kids, which made him very popular.

“So what are you going to do now that it’s empty?” Rex asked him at the end of the mission.
