So in every version of (insert character) gets bitched to hold the Batfamily together, it works, but like, what if it didn't?
What if Prime Alpha Bruce Wayne, the Batman, sacrificed his secondary gender in a last ditch attempt to bring the bat pack together properly, but it doesn't work.
They still reject his offer of pack and home.
Since I don't want this to be horribly depressing, the Justice League steps up to properly solidify their pack bonds.
Maybe Cloisbat happens or some other bat ship.
I'm kinda stuck on Cloisbat or Superbat though.
What's the ship for Martian Manhunter and Batman? That sounds interesting.
Oh. My. God. Yes. I am so on board. To go from Prime Alpha, let himself be bitched (usually portrayed as absolutely agonising when I've seen it) to become an omega, in a last-ditch effort to hold his pack together, and it. Doesn't. Work. He's still alone, he's still not good enough.
He can't blame it on clashing instincts anymore. A slew of alpha children against a Prime Alpha, impossible to compete against, instincts driving them apart. There's no such clash with an omega's instincts. So really... it can only be Bruce. Bruce is the push factor, the reason they keep leaving. He's driving them away.
There are no records of a Prime Alpha being bitched before now. Or, there is, but it's never worked. It killed them before finishing, or they physically survived but the mental shift drove them insane.
J'onn caught a stray throught from Bruce on the matter, and panicked. Went to Clark. They confronted him together, trying to talk him down, but they lose their conviction somewhere around the fourth wind of the argument when they see Bruce's expression. He's desperate. This is his only shot at not losing his kids. Damian presented a few months ago, and it's been non stop fights since, he hasn't seen him in three days. He cannot lose his kids to his biology.
Clark pulls Bruce into a hug, and J'onn quietly links their minds, and they settle on a plan.
"Who are you going to ask?" Clark hums quietly, exchanging a look with J'onn.
Bruce confesses he doesn't know. Other alphas aren't exactly lining up for him; he's big, even for an alpha, nevermind his status as an alpha prime. They're all too intimidated, the rent-an-alpha services he called all turned him down at the mere idea.
"Would you be comfortable with us helping you?" J'onn asks quietly. "I can monitor your brain activity, ensure your mind does not fracture. Clark can make sure we don't hurt you."
Bruce turns them down. He doesn't want to impose on days of their time, and he knows he is not attractive to alphas. He won't listen to their assurances, so J'onn takes momentary control of Clark's mind and drags Bruce into a kiss. He lets go quickly, but Clark keeps kissing Bruce. "What about Lois?" Bruce checks, and Clark shrugs, digging out his phone.
"Hey, honey. Oh I'm good. How was your day? Mhm. Yeah. Alright, I'll tell you why I called. Would you be comfortable letting me help bitch Bruce?" Clark asks finally, putting it on speaker so they can hear Lois' answer.
Bruce snorts a laugh, ducking his head against J'onn's shoulder.
"Come and get me, Clark," Lois orders, and hangs up. Clark slides Bruce to lean against J'onn rather than him, and zips away, returning with omega Lois in his arms. She jumps the last foot before he lands, ignoring him grabbing to catch her, and hurries to Bruce, sliding up next to him and cupping his face. "Why d'ya wanna be an omega, Bruce?" Bruce explains it all, and she agrees easily. She has no qualms with Clark helping out "or more" she teases, and Bruce elbows her as they snicker, and Clark flushes.
They plan it all out. J'onn and Clark will work Bruce through the bitching, Alfred will take the week off, and Lois will take care of everything else. None of them really want Alfred around for the kind of activities that will be going on. Bruce sends a message to the family groupchat that the manor's getting fumigated, so don't come around for a week, and is left on read.
It turns out to be a good thing they chose two aliens, for the damage Bruce deals throughout the first few days, his alpha prime refusing to submit to another, a lesser alpha no less, and if he's been partnered with a human, they'd probably be hospitalised for how hard he fights. Clark holds him down for J'onn with tears in his eyes, and vice versa. Lois spreads caring omega pheromones through the room, lets Bruce cry onto her from the pain. No one enjoys it. Not even for a moment.
But after, when omega Bruce is curled up in the barebones nest Lois managed to scrape together, purring quietly on the edge of sleep, it seems worth it. They stick around for a few more days, letting Bruce get his footing as an omega, before they trial him on the JL.
He moves like he was born to be an omega. Hal, despite practically having to be dragged to the meeting because they got into a challenge fight two weeks ago, ends up fast asleep on Bruce's thigh half an hour in. He's a bit clumsy with it, like a foal getting its legs under itself, but the instincts are there, and he's settling into them relatively quick.
The JL are surprised, but understand completely when Bruce explains why he did what he did, and encourage him. He makes a beautiful omega, they have full faith in him, and chivvy him on his way to the kids.
...J'onn gets a call from Bruce hours later, and he can only hear loud, panicked breathing on the other end of the phone. "Batman? Bruce?"
There's a crash, and a clatter, and now much more distantly, there's a distinct sound of a whine.
J'onn skips Clark, and calls Lois. She guesses his new instincts could have him in distress, and calls Clark, who sends back a brief message to get to Gotham, and nothing else.
They walk into Bruce's room, finding it destroyed, the nest Lois forced him to build for himself torn to shreds, Bruce in a chemically induced sleep, and Clark with his head in his hands. J'onn skimms the answer from Bruce's unconscious mind at the same time Clark provides it, glowering darkly.
