Average ritual magic users can safely create 6 overlapping ritual circles at a time without messing up. False!!! Clive Standish who can create up to 13 overlapping ritual circles without getting a migraine is an outlier and should not have been counted.
Now that I know essence users can have their appearances change with rank/abilities, I started thinking about odd traits certain people could gain that reflect their power sets. Here's what I've come up with

Jason has sharper teeth and an extra set of molars (they're smaller and only on his upper jaw, though). His gums & the end of his tongue are also black (only because why not).
Humphrey's skin is a little iridescent in the light, kinda like Stash and his mother's scales. He too has sharp teeth but they're considerably bigger.
Clive... glows. That's kinda it. He just faintly glows all the time.
Sophie's hair always moves in a light breeze nobody else feels.
Farrah's skin is hot- and by hot I mean nearly MOLTEN. Her hair also looks a bit more orangey while still being strawberry blonde.
That's kinda it- I couldn't think of much for any others but once I do I'll thrown em in
(Edit: yes I know it's a reflect of the soul type thing, this is purely speculation of someone who likes the series and enjoys throwing characters around like a toddler with dolls. Also because this is based on if these people reach Diamond and I firmly say that if Diamond rankers don't look a little odd I'd be incredibly disappointed.)

most of my ocs are cutesy little critters so i doubt any of you who are here for that have read he who fights with monsters ^_^'
but i love it lots.... the magic system... the character writing...... and if you're listening to the audio books the voices are really good too... >_<
Sometime during book 4 Jason wakes up in a cold sweat with a horrible sense of dread and terror, but he’s not picking up on anything out of the ordinary from his aura senses so he figures it’s probably nothing and goes back to sleep. Meanwhile, a universe away, Clive is attempting to make himself a sandwich. The kitchen is on fire.
