Can we talk
for a minute or two?
watching from across the room,
too shy to ask your name,
but seeing you smile again.
What’s your name?
guessing and pretending,
dreaming of that first sight
putting me in the mood.
I write poetic lines
pushing tempting talk
to my thoughts every night
until you say my name.
Now that I know your name,
syllables come my way
under sheer moonlight
as we slide between the sheets.
