Honestly, ghosts are sorely underutilized in fantasy. Part of that is that they're hard to write, especially in urban fantasy, but part of it is also just that people want to tell the same two plots over and over with no variation. Either the ghost is lingering with unfinished business and has to move on, or the ghost is lingering with murderous death rage and wants to kill you. Can't we have more ghosts just hanging out? Enjoying being a ghost? I've always wanted to do a ghost character whose unfinished business is life itself. Ghost romance is also sorely underrated. It's also cool when ghosts have a their own domain where they hang out, either in the mortal world or beyond. And honestly, I'd love to see a story where a murder-ghost has a redemption arc.

Neighbours, maybe. people I could’ve known in other lifetimes,  maybe. I think we are wayward stars. as cliched, and as known in these simple images, as we are incomprehensible. we can’t know it all, and so the reductivity makes its way here, that easy. it’s silly, it’s nothing, trust me. but it’s everything. yes, it is.
